Job Application Trends of 2015
For a majority of people, our phones and/or Ipad’s are the first thing we go to in the morning and the last thing we put down at the end of the day. As technology improves, we are using our phones more and more; it is our key to staying connected with friends and family, it is our alarm, our calendar and storage of precious photos and videos. As technology is increasingly becoming a major part of our lives, companies are updating their websites to enable mobile viewing. Job board companies also are jumping on the band wagon by creating mobile compatible apps. By creating mobile apps, companies are making it easier for job seekers to apply for jobs and for employers to source suitable candidates.
As a result, job board apps are taking over traditional means of job searching. Whilst e-mailing your resume and cover letter to the HR department is still common, it may soon be a thing of the past, with companies like SEEK and LinkedIn developing smarter and innovative ways to submit your resume and job applications.
For instance, LinkedIn has launched a free app that allows people to search and apply for jobs through the network in an attempt to make searching for jobs easier. The new app, called LinkedIn Job Search, has great features that allow you to apply for jobs with a quick swipe of your finger. The app customises your job search with various filters such as title, location, company, industry etc. The app also recommends jobs based on previous searches, jobs viewed and your LinkedIn profile. The best bit about the new app is that it is completely private. According to Techcrunch.com, by developing the app LinkedIn is playing into its current strength of recruitment.
As the first month of 2015 has come to an end, and employers are back into the swing of things and job seekers are in full force, keep an eye out for emerging job application trends to ensure you are at the forefront of the competitive job market.
